Mehamn
Mehamn consists of one of the best fishing areas in Norway, the local sea is not only an ideal place for anglers dreaming of great personal records, but also the direct surroundings of Mehamn offer over 400 different fishing spots in the form of streams, rivers, ponds and small tarns, which as a client you could use, e.g. when on the sea the wind blows strong which makes it impossible to go out to the open sea, this can be a good alternative. We can also attach the boats to a nearby harbor, where the wind is much weaker.
Near our base there are fishing grounds that are considered some of the best and relatively unfished in Norway. The richness of species is fantastic, better than in many other places in Norway, you can fish cod very close to the camp, and catch big halibut at a short distance from the place of fight by boat. With a bit of luck you can also count on record numbers of plaice weighing 2-4 kg. In the area of Mehamn there are some of the best waters for salmon fishing in Scandinavia, and in the rivers Tanaelv and Laxelv fans of fly fishing and spinning can catch trout, sea trout and char.
Did you know that: In 2018 near Mehamn the world’s largest cod was caught! It weighed an incredible 55.7 kg. The fish was about 172 cm long. We commissioned a replica of this fish, which now decorates the Mehamn camp and has become a landmark in Mehamn.
